It hasn't been commemorated with a historical marker or anything, but in January of 2011, the D.C. Armory hosted one of the greatest nights in go-go history. Nearly 2,000 kids swarmed that crumbling coliseum for the city's inaugural Bounce Beat Teen Awards, a mega-concert featuring five young go-go troupes who specialized in the bounce beat -- a slower, more pummeling variation of Washington's native dance music.
